The Bay Roberts Cultural Foundation is usually able to hire a summer staff to carry out summer events during the "Holdin' Ground Festival' and "Klondyke Days." The salaries of these students are funded through summer student employment programmes. Interviews are conducted by Sandra Roach and Clarence Mercer, Chair of the Board of Directors, to select young people who have musical and acting ability, as well as being highly motivated and having good "people skills." Together with volunteers from the community, these students carry out the programs of the Foundation.
Sandra works with the students, and frequently performs with them, producing high quality entertainment, while giving the students excellent training and work experience.
The summer of 2014 marked the 100th Anniversary of the beginning of World War II. The opening of the "Holdin' Ground Festival" recognized the special occasion.
